Look Both Ways (2022) – A Netflix romantic comedy‑drama directed by Kahiu, starring Lili Reinhart, David Corenswet, Danny Ramirez alongside Luke Wilson and Nia Long is celebrated for its blend of emotional depth and whimsical storytelling.

Rafiki (2018) – The first Kenyan feature to screen at Cannes, Rafiki is a tender, defiant love story between two Kenyan women. Banned in Kenya, Kahiu sued successfully to secure limited screening. The film garnered international awards, cementing her as a bold cultural pioneer.

Pumzi (2009) – An Afro‑futurist science‑fiction short set in a dystopian future. Premiered at Sundance and travels to museums and art institutions across the world including the Academy Museum in Los Angeles, Shanghai Biennale,  American Academy in Rome, Museum of Ethnology Hamburg, ArtScience Museum Singapore, MAAT Museum, Lisbon, among others. 

From a Whisper (2008) – Her directorial feature debut, a powerful drama marking the 1998 U.S. Embassy bombings in Kenya. Winner of five Africa Movie Academy Awards, including Best Director and Best Screenplay.
